Some of these include but are not limited to dual enrollment, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and the Advanced International Certificate of Education. Career and technical services have been developed or enhanced to prepare students for the jobs of the 21st century. Career education includes challenging, highly scholastic, and technical curriculum and a multitude of programs to fit student interests. Career education includes hands-on areas of study such as welding, cosmetology, biotechnology, engineering, robotics, and more. These areas are aligned to earning industry certifications, and most have dual enrollment opportunities available. Enrolling in career education courses allows students to leave high school both college ready and career ready.<\/p>\n
Technology has become a necessary component for the future success of students, particularly in the STEM areas. The Florida Legislature has recognized this. Florida Statute 1101.62(12)(b) rules that all districts are required to submit a Digital Classrooms Plan (DCP) outlining the technology needs of students, schools, teachers, and personnel. The statute requires that DCP components include student performance outcomes, digital learning and technology infrastructure, professional development, digital tools, and online assessment support. DCPs are tied to funds, and all money must be spent according to specified terms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Special Initiatives in Mathematics and Science Education The State of Florida continues to offer many programs for acceleration for high achieving and gifted students.
