These programs train generalists to teach all subjects except for those requiring specialists, such as music, physical education and health, and foreign languages. Secondary school teachers must hold a bachelor\u2019s degree in secondary education, preferably with a specialization in one or two subject areas listed in the Basic School Regulation.<\/p>\n<h3>Requirements for Ongoing Professional Development <\/h3>\n<p>The most common forms of professional development for teachers are university studies, training provided by the MEESR or school boards, and conferences.
