A comprehensive reform of the structure and curriculum of primary and lower secondary education, as announced in the Strategy for Education, Science, and Technology, will be implemented with a gradual transition from the current eight year system to a nine year, single structure system. In February 2015, an expert working group, aided by a wide range of stakeholders, began work on general curricular reform for early and preschool education, drawing information from the <em>Recommendations for Improving the Curriculum of Mathematics Based on the Results of TIMSS 2011<\/em>.<sup>24<\/sup> The plan is to introduce the new curricula on an experimental basis in the 2016\u20132017 school year before implementing it in the 2017\u20132018 school year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Use and Impact of TIMSS The National Curriculum Framework presents a starting point for systemic changes in preschool, primary, and secondary education in Croatia.
