Most teachers also complete a two year master\u2019s degree course. Preschool teachers and teachers in Grades 1 to 3 must obtain a degree in preschool and elementary education, respectively. Teachers in Grades 4 to 6 and in lower secondary school must obtain a degree or a postgraduate diploma in their subject of specialization.<\/p>\n<h3>Requirements for Ongoing Professional Development<\/h3>\n<p>Polish teachers have ample opportunities for professional development. Universities offer postgraduate courses for teachers wanting to qualify to teach additional subjects, and every province has a public in-service education center. Commercial educational firms also offer shorter or longer courses. Although teachers are not obliged to attend, attendance on professional development courses counts toward promotion.
