Because there often are relatively small differences between countries, Exhibit P1.3 shows whether the differences in average achievement among the countries are statistically significant.
Slovenia had the highest average achievement in physics, followed by the Russian Federation and Norway with comparable achievement levels. Portugal and Sweden had the next highest achievement, followed by the United States, Lebanon, and then Italy and France with comparable achievement.
