Use and Impact of TIMSS
The National Curriculum Framework presents a starting point for systemic changes in preschool, primary, and secondary education in Croatia. A comprehensive reform of the structure and curriculum of primary and lower secondary education, as announced in the Strategy for Education, Science, and Technology, will be implemented with a gradual transition from the current eight year system to a nine year, single structure system. In February 2015, an expert working group, aided by a wide range of stakeholders, began work on general curricular reform for early and preschool education, drawing information from the Recommendations for Improving the Curriculum of Mathematics Based on the Results of TIMSS 2011.24 The plan is to introduce the new curricula on an experimental basis in the 2016–2017 school year before implementing it in the 2017–2018 school year.
