Advanced Mathematics Participation and Average Achievement by Gender

To consider the gender balance in TIMSS Advanced programs, this exhibit shows the percentage of students in these programs in each participating country who are male and female. In most countries, the majority of students taking advanced courses in mathematics was male. There was essentially no difference in mathematics achievement between female and male students in Italy, Lebanon, and Portugal.
